Category: Projects and Construction

The two-storey Bedford Street Apartment block, built in the 1940s, received a much-needed refurbishment. Access | Partners in Property, under Spencer Henshaw, worked for Housing New Zealand to complete the project in 25 weeks.

This project involved the demolition and refurbishment of 16 bathrooms and the demolition and refurbishment of balconies. Works involved;

  • asbestos removal
  • the complete refitting of the interior gib walls
  • electrical and plumbing works
  • installation of vinyl, carpet flooring, tiling and sanitary and vanity fixtures
  • upgrading framing within the walls including timber windows and glazing,
  • upgrading of the building’s fire protection to current regulations
  • grinding concrete on balconies to prepare for membrane and outlet installation
  • installing new timber decks to balconies
  • Install new balustrade with powder coated aluminium cap flashings and side fixed tubular steel handrails to the balconies
  • replacing the metal roof, including installing a new fall arrest system
  • Full reclad with Exotec of all areas as mentioned above

On completion, the apartment block was transformed from what it originally was. The residential blocks were ready for residents to use. Access | Partners in Property are proud of the outcome. With this project, Access | Partners in Property have adhered to our brand promise.
